Dubai International Airport is ranked as the number one hub for international passengers with annual traffic of more than 78 million passengers in 2015.
Over 150 airlines operate at Dubai’s two airports, connecting to more than 280 destinations across the globe. Dubai’s second airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, will have the capacity to handle 240 million passengers when it’s fully operational.
Climate & Weather
A sub-tropical, arid climate ensures clear blue skies almost throughout the year. Winter may see a few infrequent rain showers. Temperatures vary from season to season: January can fall to a low of 15°C/59°F, while July can rise to a high of 48°C/118°F.
There are a wide variety of venues available that are a little out of the ordinary. Here are just a few:
Step into Dubai Opera, the city’s latest architectural masterpiece and jewel in its cultural crown. Shaped like a futuristic dhow, this new cultural institution hosts the biggest names in opera, ballet, theatre and classical music. Designed by Danish architect Janus Rostock, the 2,000-seat Dubai Opera is the city’s first truly world-class cultural facility.
Dubai Parks - A thrilling labyrinth of mega theme parks like Motiongate™, Bollywood Parks™ and LEGOLAND® will keep young hearts enthralled, while the Riverland™ entertainment and dining boulevard offers all the latest in relaxation.
The Fridge - A contemporary and dynamic event venue ideal for product launches, training, workshops, presentations, rehearsals, screenings, video and photo shoots, the newly refurbished Warehouse offers a flexible and accessible space to create, host and showcase.
Alserkal Avenue – a location that’s purpose has always been to build a home for creative industries. It maps a vital intersection for the confluences of art, culture and development. More than just a neighbourhood, it is an arts organisation with an active homegrown programme; the driving force that brings the community together to support and encourage a creative economy; the platform via which regional artists and art initiatives can reach a wider, international audience.
Bab Al Shams – in the heart of the desert, this architectural wonder offers an outdoor event with history and style in magnificent surroundings.
Citizens of 52 countries — GCC nationals plus nationals of listed countries including the UK and most of Europe — do not require visas prior to arrival. If you do require a visa, the UAE authorities have taken steps to make the process as straightforward and easy as possible.
Dubai has buses, metered taxis, metros and marine transportation. The Dubai Metro can take you to more than 45 stations and feeder buses operate from the stations to major shopping malls and Dubai landmarks. Taxi fares are very reasonably priced compared to the UK.
Corporate Social Responsibility
There are several humanitarian and charitable organisations that welcome input from international groups. Getting involved with the local community by supporting a charitable organisation can add a meaningful dimension to your event, and provide the opportunity to engage locally in a significant and memorable way. Here are a few suggestions of organisations that welcome support:
- The Emirates Airline Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life for children, regardless of geographical, political or religious boundaries, and to help them maintain or improve their human dignity
- Al Noor Dubai a training centre for children with special needs
- Dubai Autism Centre focused on services for children with autism
- Emirates Arthritis Foundation provides an extensive range of events and programmes to support people with arthritis
- Dubai Centre For Special Needs provides the highest standards of specialised education and therapy
Adrenaline-pumping desert safaris, indoor and outdoor theme parks, luxurious spa breaks, sumptuous meals, relaxing dhow cruises, high-octane sky dives and exhilarating water park rides — just some of the unique experiences Dubai offers its guests.
And you’ll find that the city is one of contrasts and its people are a melting pot of cultures. The contrast of old and new provides a cultural experience deeply rooted in Arabic tradition, set in a modern environment.
From Arabic to Asian, French to Mexican and everything in between, Dubai offers food lovers a tantalising array of mouth-watering options to treat your taste buds. And the city is known for its vibrant nightlife and entertainment scene, where you can relax at blissful beach clubs or watch the world’s most exciting horse race.
