With its innovative spirit and respect for tradition, Japan is a knowledge hub inspiring new ideas

Japan is a destination offering unique perspectives—modern architecture lining ancient streetscapes, advanced technology inspired by traditional skills, efficient service with kind hospitality, and of course safe and clean streets and punctual trains. As the host of the 2020 Olympics, the attention of the world is turning to Japan, but many of the charms of this island nation cannot be expressed simply with words. Japan is home to world leaders and outstanding talent in diverse fields and its artisans are renowned for their pride in their workmanship. Japan provides opportunities for quality, productive business meetings and meaningful incentive tours that cannot be experienced elsewhere.

Information

Transport

Japan has four international airports including Narita, Tokyo, Osaka, Chubu Centrair, and is connected with numerous direct flights from all over the world. Domestically, the Shinkansen (Bullet train) rail system connects major cities. Japan’s planes, Shinkansen and local trains are all famous for their punctuality.

Climate & Weather

As the Japanese archipelago extends 2,400 km from north to south, the climate varies although the whole country experiences four distinct seasons. In the warm spring and autumn, visitors can enjoy stunning scenery, including cherry blossoms and autumn foliage. In the winter, visitors can ski in the northern Japan Alps and in the summer enjoy beautiful beaches in the subtropical south.

Transfers

All international airports in Japan are connected with public transport facilities such as trains, buses and monorail, offering access to a nearby major city within 15 to 30 minutes.

Corporate Social Responsibility

A variety of CSR activities are conducted in Japan. For instance, in Okinawa prefecture, there is a programme where participants in business meetings can observe more than 50,000 corals cultivated in small onshore sea water ponds as part of an activity to preserve the disappearing coral reefs. In the city of Sapporo, participants in international conferences implemented a grass clearing programme to prevent brown bear intrusions into the metropolitan area with the aim of creating a society where wild animals and people can co-exist. In Kitakyushu City, a recycling project called Urban Mine reclaims resources from industrial products lying dormant in the city. This includes making bookmarks that utilise 100 per cent recycled gold recovered from disposed electronic boards, which are distributed as giveaways to domestic and overseas organisers of and participants in international conferences and business events held in Kitakyushu.
